Located in a laneway behind 401 Richmond, adjacent to Cinecycle, this project is an extension of the legacy of Jane Jacobs. Instead of the Spadina Expressway, the current threat to the neighbouhood's life is the rampant condo development east of the site. This project proposes a horizontal sky scraper, or GroundScraper which activates the social space with a chess table, stage and cave-like place for kids to play. By taking over the existing fence, an object of exclusion is turned into and inclusive device.
